The Feast of Saint Patrick 

Everybody loves a parade!!  The first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ireland was held in 1903, when it also became an official public holiday.  March 17th Saint Patrick’s feast day (a cultural and religious celebration), is believed to be his death day, and was already being celebrated by the Irish in Europe in the ninth and tenth centuries.  In later times, he became more and more widely seen as the patron of Ireland.  Tradition credits him with converting the pagan Irish to Christianity.  In the early 1600’s the feast day was finally placed on the Universal Liturgical Calendar, thus becoming a Holy Day of Obligation.  Saint Patrick has never been formally canonized by a Pope; nevertheless, various Christian churches declare
